Will reformatting my hard drive fix bad sectors on it?
assuming im not concerned with the data on it....

Ideally with the cost of storage now, just replacing and using a new drive seems ideal... .
It wont "fix" bad sectors, but it should mark them as bad (unusable) and therefore no data would be written to those bad sectors.

Bad sectors should be transparently mapped out using spareCan ....
But if you have bad sectors, it typically is a unrepairable issue.

If you hard drive truly has a bad sector, then try Tech Tool Pro v5.

Hello,
I think my hard disk contains bad sectors and those bad sectors locate on the place where VM instance is, is there a tool that will allow me to fix those errors, or at least shift all the bad sectors from crucial point to the no so crucial place...

If the bad sectors correspond to unallocated sectors in your VM's virtual disk to entrust your ....
Run chkdsk c: /f /r
This will fix the filesystem, check for bad sectors and mark them as bad so to help you out.

There is a program called SpinRite that will try to recover as much .
A backup of everything you can as soon as possible, then use the only program I know of that can repair bad sectors - spinrite .

I recommend you consider migrating your data onto another is showing bad ....
There is no way of "recovering" bad sectors.
Rerun it occasionally anyway, in case there are any "almost bad" sectors that degrade further.

I have an external HDD that is starting to fail, it has some bad sectors. It's a 1TB fujitsu siemens case with a western digital HDD inside.
Eventually I will backup the whole drive with some backup/imaging software. But atm i dont have the free space...

I have used it successfully.
From disks with problems such as bad sectors, scratches or that just give errors when reading data, recovering bad sectors, (like the dd command) to another hard drive.
