As mentioned, killing a few days here...always kind of like the challenge of finding the cheapest accomm around (always plenty of characters at these places).
I have found a few of these rooms for 150 baht on Kho San...just wondering if there were...

I spend all day and most of the night out if you wish to take superior pictures and really enjoy the people and their culture.
Just a traveler and photographer with a very small budget .

It seems early March is still considered high season by most hotels.

In the major cities you will find these bank money changes open just about every day....
You can change money at Suvarnabhumi 24 hours a day.
The rate will change a little bit every working day, either up.
The exchange rate is not fixed.

You would have been just as happy in a 300 baht guesthouse you stayed in the last time through with pool and gym for 2000 baht is going to be a run-of-the-mill place and probably not very interesting or much of a splurge.

Hallo,
my hotel can arrange for a car to pick me up at the airport for 800 Baht.
I also read on internet that I can easily find a meter taxi. The journey to Patong would be around 650 Baht( taxi-meter fare + a fee of 100 baht on top of it)

And arriving in day time you can take the Airport Bus Non Stop to Phuket Town for 70 Bhat (from 6.30) and then take the Tuk tuk to the Patong beach for 200~300 Baht or the Bus (large size Blue-White stripe Songthewe) for 35 Baht ....
