Baking soda/baking powder recipe, don't have baking powder? Help please!!? I will be using this recipe to make some cupcakes, it says to use baking powder and baking soda but I only have baking soda. Can I just add more baking soda? If so how much? Thankyou...

Yes bicarbonate of soda will work in place of Baking Soda so long as you times the amount need by 1.5.

Only use what the recipe calls for, because baking soda fizzes Baking powder is actually baking soda with a starch (often corn starch) and and acid like cream of tartar.

Maybe not as light of a cake? Just so you know, baking soda and yeast have.
The yeast won't rise, I think? not all cakes call for baking soda so I'm thinking there won't be much of a difference.

I don't think you'll get the same outcome if you use baking powder because of the special properties of baking soda.
Although baking powder contains baking soda, they're not quite the same thing.
