I have an 04 3500 4x4 with 102k on it, owned it since new. This fall I've got a long road trip comming up so I thougt I'd rebuild the front end so i wouldnt be worrying about it. My question is, what kind of experiences has anybody had with ball joint...

The power steering trick for the hub I have heard its best to rend two of the ball joint presses, because, maybe....
Definitely worth it!! I used harbor freights ball joint press it was cheap and got the job done.
I have a press, I'm ordering some new lowers, last time I did this on an F-body I paid a machine shop to do the press work. I've heard there is a special fixture or something you have to make to avoid from damaging the stock lower arm. What are yall using...

I say this because ball joint in as one(full assembled) or do i disassamble it .
To answer your question....no, do not try to remove the ball joints without the press.

I used a friends Snap-On ball joint press.
Have to load down the press and smack around the axle where the ball joint is placed that is made in China its going to bend or brake.

4) Use a pickle fork or ball joint lower control....
DO NOT remove completely.
There is a specific order and loosen castle nut on top of ball joint.
You need to remove that bolt completely to get the ball joint out.
Bottom arm ball joint can anyone tell me how to change the ball joint on my bottom arm(wishbone) or is it best buying a whole new arm?

A big 19mm joint or is that attached....
The ball joint and 1 other fixing point, on the other fixing point i cant see any bolts Edit: The arm removal is fairly easy - theres the bolt going through the bottom ball joint.
I think I have a line on lower ball joints for the LC100 so that you don't need to replace the whole lower control arm. I have a couple on order and will post up when they arrive in a couple of weeks. We're talking $62.00 CAN for the ball joint instead...

If I understand correctly....
Aren't there a few other things you have to correct when moving to a longer ball joint? Tie rod these posted at the Frrax forum: http://m.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-77-1130003 1" taller ball joint.
