Anyone have success forming bamboo to a curved blade? I imagine it would entail some kind of wet heat/STEAM PROCESS.

Quality modern samurai sword
I want a quality samurai sword. I don't care if it's made by traditional techniques. Quality new steel is good for me.
Ideas?

BTW, do you mean tachi, wakizashi or katana? "Samurai sword" doesn't have to mine, you would be well served with either....
It isn't an meaningful catchall if your budget doesn't go above $1,000 .
With the sword and what you can afford to spend.

I've been using 5160 for swords, and haven't had any problems. It hardens well, and doesn't chip or roll. The edge holds well. But, are there better modern steels for swords? I've used W2, and while I like it, I tend to...

I'm pretty darned impressed....
As far as S7, I don't know anything about it except for a thread I saw by a guy who did a sword sword.
With a thick bamboo core? Chopping tree limbs? S7 is a medium carbon Chrom/Moly alloy with enough to.

Just bought another Philippine sword or bolo. The pictures are not very good but what I can see appealed me so much that I tried the gamble.
Is someone able to tell me by the few better pictures what I buy?
