Or even just pin it in and then fill the tube of bamboo with something like fiberglass resin.
It into bamboo with a heavy epoxy i think you would be best off.

BTW, do you mean tachi, wakizashi or katana? "Samurai sword" doesn't have to mine, you would be well served with either....
