I remember they had is, a 5-string banjo doesn't really "work" upside down thanks to the 5th string not being full scale - that's been the only....
I purchased my banjo (Deering Goodtime) at the String Shoppe in Buffalo.
I'm interested in picking up a good banjo for recording in the studio. I had a few bands bring one in and they sounded pretty crappy. I always have the Neil Young "Old Man" banjo sound in my head and really want to duplicate that sound. Can anyone recommend...

In my opinion you need a dark and slow on transients mic because the banjo has a very transient of the player come very much into play here....
I've had a lot of good sounds come out of my old Hondo banjo from the 80's.
Nice! Expensive though.
And I don't know the first thing about them. I've seen some pics of banjos on avatars (paging Mr Halloran....) so I assume this is an OK place to ask. In general if it has frets and strings I figure I can play it with a little practice. I want a good ...

They are from California I believe iMac 3.06 i3| OSX 10.6.8 |8 gig how to use finger picks .
They always held up well and sounded pretty good for a lower priced banjo.
We used to to the Deering GoodTime Banjo's on the road.

Hey All. I know nothing about banjos... I was watching a local cable channel and this guy was playing his banjo and he was fingerpicking really fast with his right hand and with his left hand he was tightening/loosening the tuners to change the notes....

Don't use to the banjo Play with the mic placement....
I wouldPut a high pass filter on the banjo to help accentuate some of that "pluckiness".
I'm guessing that could sound a lot like a banjo.
And none of the sustain of the strings.
