I use a lower basal rate if I exercise or am more active than usual, and a higher basal rateMy own basal....
So if you are experiencing lows at 3PM you'd want to change your rate above.

YourThat's a great result to have to lower your basal rates that much.
There aint no rules about the rate that i:cs may fall with basal reduction, if they end up doing so.

DX 9-14-11 with A1C 13.2 I wouldn't expect your basal rate to change much (unless to now about 80g a day - my basal has not changed much.

If it is perfect 80-95 then....
You determine your basal insulin needs by how if affects your fasting bg.
In a functioning pancreas it puts out small bits of insulin all acting insulin like Lantus or Levemir .
Basal is your background insulin.

I'm still confused about turning up a temp basal. Will it help to bring down a high blood sugar? Or is it more specific to when CWD is ill? It freaks me out to see it say 100% etc. increase.

I use temp basals a lot.
Depending on the reason for the high, you may need a correction AND increased basal.
It could be illness, hormones, etc.
basal when she's generally high overall, for whatever reason.

Since the onset of insulin? Honestly, I would set a flat basal rate and then do some basal testing to get it figured out again a flat rate....
I have ALWAYS changed the basal rate for when the drop or rise starts...

Good luck with the overnight hours as thoseYour basal insulin should maintain a steady (flatline) BG for you indefinately without the additon of any food or exercise.
I find a CGM to be a great tool for basal rate testing.
