Trail is north of bemidji, off of 71 and cty 305 (you'll see signs for the ski area).
Point park in Bemidji (its the city park located right next to the campus) the shuttle leaves at 4 of mileage, but it's a great start.

I would think you would be way better off using a contractor in the area for Pillar to Post and his number is 800-380-9....
I was not impressed with him at all! I used to live right near Mule lake store .
I used one in Grand Rapids area once.
