I've seen a lot of people use a piece of billet aluminum to draw the heat away from their work piece. Is billet aluminum better than normal aluminum for absorbing heat? Where can I find a nice size piece to clamp my work pieces to it?

There is only a billet....
There's no such thing as "billet" aluminum.
Aluminum is good but copper is better....
Go to your scrap dealers in your area.
Alumium costs $1.50/lb billet is no better than any other aluminum.

Most people just opt for the billet since it doesnt Billet is stronger....
Aluminum is cheaper...Strong enough to hold 600ish most say, but it really depends on thegrade aluminum used.
Billet is stronger and costs more...
