Second marriage of two years. Wife gives me cash for my birthday gift. Couldn't she have put some thought in to it and actually bought a present to give? I've never received a cash gift from a significant other before.

I went to my first birthday party for a one year old yesterday. I don't know if this is normal behavior but it did rub me the wrong way. At the gift opening time, the little boy was having a blast opening gifts...that was until other children came along...

It isn't cheap to not get him a birthday gift year's birthday b/c it was that much fun.
