I am building a rotary 700mm diam table out of 19mm x 190 kwila boards , and borrowed a 800W Ryobi biscuit joiner EPJ800 to have a go at edge gluing the boards. The blade on the joiner is 4mm thick, and I was using #20 biscuits.
Previously I have used...

The slot is 4.7mm wide, but the dry biscuit is only 3.8mm on the biscuit jointer....
I just went and had another look.
Take care to keep the biscuit joiner as stable and vertical as possible so that the slot are not a snug fit.
Difficult.

Alright, in all seriousness we need to start discussing where we want to take the party. All suggestions welcome by party members or people interested in joining.

I just got an email circular about this:

I'm not in the market, having bought an old-style Makita at the beginning of the year (which I'm delighted with, incidentally).
I am puzzled though: ...

Cheers.
As a Biscuit joiner it has to have 'ground by this biscuit jointer, I much prefer the versatility of cordless tools especially on site.

I got an order today for a 3'x5' cypress sign. It will be made of 2x12 boards edge joined together. Im getting different opinions on the best way to edge join the boards though. Some folks say glue alone is fine (Im a little leary of that though), some...

How much strength do you need? Strong enough to where it doesn't come apart I guess! Lol If you joint the edges so that they are square and true, you can use titebond II .
Tongue and groove would be stronger than any others mentioned .

I'm about to add width to some pieces by joining some edges.
Some will have little support other than the joint itself, so I will be using splines.
Since some of the main(large) pieces are plywood and others are MDF, in the interest of joint strength ...

For instance, if it were necessary to edge join MDF, it seems to me a scarf joint would be preferrable to a butt joint.
It would help to know why all that edge joining is necessary.

The main Plywood and MDF pieces are of various sizes that I will have to add 1 or 2 inches to.
Again, I am just asking if building these up with plywood or MDF is better. (I'm just trying to keep this simple and don't need a biscuit joiner to align).

It's been my experience that joining plywood to plywood or to MDF, a spline, or a biscuit, or, I suppose, a domino (don't have any experience with those) is actually a good idea.
To disagree with how you're planning to proceed.
