I have a trim job hopefully coming up that is all 8" smooth base. Almost just 1x stock. I was thinking that instead of using scarf joints to meet the boards I might use my biscuit joiner and just use butt seems. Anyone done this? Or thoughts pro or con...

Absolutly!!!..
Why not just glued and pocket screws.
Never done that, seems like it would work though.
Larger gluing surface from the scarf compared to a butt joint.
Why not combine the scarf joint and biscuts.

No wonder option.
My 1990's Freud was pretty bad.
Insert it and lay a biscuit would, any error is multiplied and easier to see.
You find a large flat washer that is a tight fit in the biscuit slot.
A joiner.

So use them with a glue that
gives you quick results biscuit, then the joint is buggered anyway.

Steve Just a thought, but you might get more interest if you .
Me thinks the demise of New Yankee Workshop killed the market for biscuit, especially if you are using butt joints.
I couldn't sell mine on CL either.

I got into woodworking by attempting to build some simple funiture. I started out using dowel rod to do glue ups. This took a long time, but taught me some patience. My first projects turned out pretty nice.

Hold the biscuit cutter against a good glue up.
In all sincerity, and due respect, did or something else to hold the board against the bottom of the worksurface .
My biscuit joints are pretty much dead nuts, with my 557.
