Can ...

To purchase the retail version of Windows 7 x64 as you're not entitled for both versions from one & x64), you can use it for 90 days
You would only have the option to install 32 & 64 bit if you.

Assuming a fairly fast CPU (Dual Core 2.9 Ghz) and 4 GB of RAM, will the typical 32 bit app run at : Faster Slower Same speed on the 64 bit Windows 7 than on the 32 bit version?

The system itself will have more efficient drivers....
In fact, some applications may run faster.
The difference is probably not significant enough for you to notice, but it is there .
It will run slightly slower as it has to be run through WoW64 emulation .

Believe it or not my installer is so old that it doesn't have an option to detect the 64 bit version of Windows.
Is there a Win DLL call or (even better) an environment variable that would give that info for XP and Vista?
One possible solution
I see that...

Specifically curious if IIS 5.1 has a 64 bit version, but I'm guessing only IIS 6+ are 64 bit.

64 bit support comes from....
Windows XP 64 bit comes with IIS6 rather than IIS5.1, so I think you might be right.
I'm not sure if there is a native 64 bit IIS5 for that.
Hmm, there is a 64 bit Windows 2000, but it's pretty rare.

I have a Macbook that's maxed out to 4gb of ram. I had Leopard running on it, as well as the 32 bit version of Windows 7 installed with Bootcamp. Under Windows 7, only 2.97gb of 4gb of ram is useable by the OS. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard which...

Is there a x64 or ia64 version of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) 2005? All the information I'm seeing leads me to believe there is only a x86 version.
