I like are coming with ....
Never liked gray leather interiors and the black is just killed with the red stitching.
The black to me just says nothing to go.
Leather and it looked good! If it comes to sport I would chose Gray.

I live in Florida and have read on this forum that gray colored Nikon lenses are cooler than the traditional black ones. It makes sense to me, but I was wondering if there are users out there who could comment one way or the other based on personal experience...

I do not nor have not had the black version to side-by-side compare any other aspectsThe light grey color coating reflects back sun, rather than attracts it like black- same deal as with wearing lighter colored shirts ....

I have....
The discoloration is actually dirt/dust that the insulation has collected from the air .
With the insulation being within that, it has acted like an air filter .
The "drafty" feel is air moving through the wall/floor system into your living space .
