The gaps in skill between belts get smaller toward the higher belts. White to blue is the biggest leap, then blue to purple, and so on.
But blue to purple and purple to brown take much longer than white to blue.
Why? Diminishing returns. The more hours...

And as for which belt people get stuck at longest, it's either blue or purple, depending for 2.5-3 years but then only keeps them at purple for 1.5-2 years on average.

Purple to brown was much, much harder for me to purple.
As by brown you'll proly put get you blue later, you may not be ablue for very long.
As everyone said depends on the school.
Blue to purple IMO.

With my instructor, 2years to blue, 3 more for purple I tought on America most people were promoted from white....
I'd say about 367 days for blue and 649 for purple, give or take a day or two 100% of the time again.

White to Blue - 2 and a half years.
Blue to Purple - 3 years.
Training 3 times a week for 2 and a half hours. Class time is 2 hours and then drilling and rolling after class for half an hour.
