I run Abu 6501 with 80# Tuff Line and 40# Maxi UG leader, 5/0 GamiQuote... .
That's what I use for bobber fishing.
Of the time for my bobber fishing for salmon and use them for sturgeon fishing, that is a kick in the pants.

Plus with a bobber....
Why give yourself 1-2 seconds to grab the rod when you can have 4-5 using the bobber I see a fish rise up and approach, I get ready to grab the rod when they bite, and fish on! Worked that day.
Make sense to me.

Outdoor Hub mobile, the outdoor information engine Gotcha Spring Bobbers are a great bobber and they only about $2.00 each.
2 spring bobbers are hard to beat.

bobber size depends on the weight youBobber size is much....
With that in mind, if it works for your jig fishing, it will work for your bait fishing.
You fish, and distance needed to cast, the bigger the bobber you need.

(1) Why would you choose a fixed versus slider float?
(2) I have a 1/2 oz setup for my baitcaster. Bit I have this sweet little Stradic Reel that I want to try with a jig. I am thinking of a 3/8 or 1/4 oz. Thoughts?
Thanks

You can use your slip rig as fixed by simply jamming something in the top of your bobber with a fixed float....
It's expensive but I split the spool over two precision .
And it's the best line I've ever used for bobber and jig fishing.
