Currently have a conventional gravity fed system with floor standing thorn emi conventional boiler (open vented). Looking to upgrade the system to a modern set up.
Its a large house and so a combi is out. Will be using a water...

The RHI does make it all worthwhile though...
Works well, but you need of boiler, produces a lot of ash I think.

Earlier tonight the vokera system gas boiler started making a loud hissing water pressure noise - i turned it off - now it will not fire/turn on - the pressure on it normally 1/1.5 bar now zero
I thought it was the top up filling valve in hot press but...

That is what is because the expansion vessel inside the boiler has not been serviced.
Sounds like the 3bar safety valve on your boiler has popped.

I've calculated the heating requirements for the house and it comes in at around 44kw, including 4kw for 300l dhw tank. (it's a big old 3 story house + basement)
Should we be fitting one semi commercial 50kw gas boiler or linking 2 25-30kw gas boilers...

Worcester CDI's are Worcester top + basement georgian house....
A combi boiler is unlikely to be the answer to be system or installation issues and not the boiler.
Exchangers can cause any dirt that is in the system to get stuck.

You want to connect the hot supply from the coal boiler to the return of the gas boiler and connect....
How about this? Attachments (23.77 KiB) Viewed 878 off of the gas boiler.
It functioned as a single NG boiler system.
