Does anyone know about the performance difference running Windows 7 using the following.
1. Parallels
2. Parallels using a Bootcamp partition
Will the latter be quicker in general?

For this I thought having bootcamp would be better, but I've read the gaming performance using Parallels on performance gains it....

Just installed Parallels can't use Bootcamp
Why can't I use my bootcamp partition? I get this error:

The first error is "A disk the exact same error, running Parallels 7 on OS 10.6.8, bootcamp partition is Windows 32-bit.
To try out Parallels, but I'm not wanting to reinstall bootcamp..again..

I didn't get your question, but I run VMWare Fusion and that takes my bootcamp.
There's a Parallels page that describes how to do so.
Normally the way to do this is to use seperate hardware profiles .

After Parallels install, can't boot Windows in Bootcamp
1. I installed Windows 7 using Boot Camp
2. I installed Parallels and used the Windows 7 boot camp partition
All worked great.
But now I want to boot in Windows 7 using Boot Camp (not Parallels)...

Parallels seemed/seems easy nowadays....
FWIW, I've got Windows XP on Bootcamp...
The post marria85 linked dates back to 2006, the migration process from bootcamp to parallels is much more on Bootcamp seems to freeze my boot.

I've got the system up and running using Parallels, and I ran it pretty flawlessly for about 2 hours yesterday. Ran that damn little Miata around and around getting a feel for my first try at iRacing.
Should I stay with Parallels, or build a Bootcamp ...

Parallels is using a lot of resources to run two operating systems, and it probably won't keep up with racing that....
It wouldn't hurt to run it in Windows using bootcamp.
I use bootcamp, , good to know parallels worked fine too.

I'm curious for all your Mac users out there which virtualization software you use and why? I've been a VM Ware user for Windows for years and have been running Parallels on my Mac (mainly because VM Ware was in Beta when I got Parallels).

My experience with Parallels has been positive, and if you Box is a good virtualization tool, but rather barebones compared to VMware Fusion and Parallels'? "It depends." :)

I just discovered bootcamp and I'm psyched that I can run Windows 7 RC on the MacBook Pro without using a virtual machine. However the virtual machines run a bit better because they support remapping the MacBook's keyboard. Currently I can't find an equivalent...

Step 3 on Page 14 talks about installing the drivers from the DVD .
You might want to take a look at the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide .
I believe they are available on the MacOS DVD.
You have to install the Mac Keyboard drivers for Windows .

Just bought a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 2GB of memory and a 320GB hard drive. I plan on doing some .net development on it using a BootCamp/VMWare combo since VMWare grants access to the bootcamp partition.

Why? It's a lot easier to have a really large virtual disk which is not using... .
I strongly recommend VMWare over Parallels as VMWare supports 2 virtual CPU's (I think recommend BootCamp unless you want to play games on it.
Of apps at once.
