Boss battles are still pretty frequent, you just don't notice them as a boss battle because there's nothing point.
Boss battles work in certain genres, and they don't in others.
Depends on the type of game.

I want to know what people think of the boss battles. Which did you find the easiest (excluding Koffing/Zubat)? Which did you find the hardest? I found the Dusknoir battle surprisingly easy, with Dialga definitely being the hardest.

Currently, Buck Bumble is up there on my "dumb bosses" list. Well, the whole game itself isn't that great, but the boss herself is rather empty and disappointing.
