New String on a new bow, Why?
Most custom strings are pre-stretched and as said earlier will gain you some speed. And as said earlier some people like certain colors. I always take my factory string off and build a custom string and use my factory string for a back up.

Bow String Serving?
For those who reserve there own bow strings what type of serving do you use and why? I have used Bohning serving in the past but I don't know how this ranks with other servings out there.

How often should I replace my bow string?
I personally would change it out even though it still looks fine but if you haven't shot that much, you can check the poundage to see if anythings changed from your draw weight. If nothing really changed, the strings haven't stretch much and you should be fine for this season. Wax it up real good and shoot the heck out of it and you'll know if you need to change it or not.

Factory strings?
I will not shoot any factory strings on any bow, unless Winners Choice are factory standard, and that means Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, andy of them. While factory strins have gotten better, they are not on par with a set of custom strings.

What's the best bow string wax?
When I had new winners choice string and cable put on my bow last summer the Bohning Silicone Wax was recommended. After I dab the wax on the string I use a small piece of leather to work the wax into the string - it keeps the mess off your hands, it builds up more heat so the wax soaks in better and you don't get friction burnt fingers.
