Boxing/Judo or Boxing/Kali I've been doing boxing for awhile now. Once I get around 2years more training done I want to try out a new cheap and effect martial arts.
Which would be a more well rounded combination for civilian self defense...

I was fortunate to have a sensei that taught judo as self defense first....
Some people only teach judo as a sport.

How much Judo is in Kudo?
Part of what intrigues me about Kudo is its relationship with Judo. I get the impression that pre-war Judo would have a lot in common with Kudo; trying to create a safe, comprehensive unarmed contest based in combative arts....

Judo's death by a thousand cuts As the IJF (International Judo Federation) continues to add more and more senseless rules in an attempt to "purify" Judo and differentiate it from other sports/arts, it would seem that Judo itself is dying by its own hand...

I don't know enough about ....
Very demoralizing for long time with strikes/kicks.
In trying to create a unique identity for Judo it seems like the IJF is (inadvertently?) sending a message that they fear Judo can't stand on it own merit.

The only self defense arts you even list are Judo and Shotokan, and in a legitimate school and use striking to support the grappling....
Kyokushin is the mongrel child of Shototkan, Goju Ryu, Judo, Boxing and Muay Thai to be clear.
Karate.

No one ever said Judo would....
Are you claiming if judo was invented by a bigger man that it would be less legitimate? You obviously can't see it but everyone else can see that technique is important to Judo when you look at its roots.

Excellent Leo! With the exception of Olympic Wrestling, you won't find a better take down art than Judo. Judo throws and their setups are head and shoulders above any other sort of throwing I've encountered in martial arts (even Aikido of JuJutsu).
Sounds...
