It is very much balanced like the ernie ball to be drop in replacements .
I replaced my bridge pickup for the same reason.

My bridge pickup in the Les Paul is acting strange. It's a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, if that helps at all. Essentially, when I switch from the neck or middle position, the pickup seems to be only half-working. I get a sound, but it's very low volume...

After I put in a new selector switch and a different pickup, which didn't fix it, consider removing the....
I had a similiar problem with my SG's bridge pickup a while back ago.
The switch out and tighten the screws, see if that helps .
