See the voice coil in the woofer most likely- but you can smell around the magnet area- if it smells.

Every ounce in a while i smell a burning smell i guess coming through the air conditioning and a couple of times its the smell of gasoline usually after i fill up. Any thoughts ?

Often a leaking VCG will cause a burning smell.
Check the heat shield above the headers for burnt oil .

Something is producing a mild to strong burning smell but I can't find the cause of it so far. There's no visual smoke and there's no wires or anything that I can see so far that has burned. It almost smell like burning metal.

I have a pair of fairly high end near field/midfield monitors that exhibit a burning smell they are pushed really hard. Anyone ever have this happen or know of any possible causes?

I know it's been awhile since your post, but if you're checking back I wondered if you ever figured out what it was? I just started smelling it yesterday. And it definately is a phantom smell Smell - impaired

New Coilovers - burning smell
hey guys, i kind of did things a little backwards here.
I installed hks coilovers in my car, slammed it, and then took it in for an allignment. All was good.
A couple days later i dropped it off to get a new clutch installed...

It's kinda odd...
with the heater on in the upper vents (not lower) i smell a faint burning.. not enough to be OMGWTF'ing... but enough to know that it's not normal.. has a really faint faint smell kinda like a furnace being turned on the first time of...

I've had the 'burning rubber' smell on and offAre you sure it's not the typical burned smell from the leaking valve cover gaskets a lot of us storm.
Maybe I'll get lucky.

I always get a random burning smell over 5,000rpm and im wondering if my clutch is slipping or not fully disengaging? it dosn't slip at all when i ride it or under acceleration, but ill randomly get that burning smell. i know how to adjust the clutch ...

If it's a leak, you find burning.
That a BMW specialist mechanic could find the burning smell fairly quickly.
