When I delete a file, it bypasses the recycle bin and is deleted permanantly.
I've made sure the recycle bin's "Don't move files to the recycle bin" option is unchecked and it has a maximum size of 25,122MB
Presumably I've changed something at some point...

Other time a file will skip the recycle bin is when you delete of a network drive, or a non-NTFS.

Hi,
is there anyway in C# (interop maybe) to delete a specific file in the recycle bin permanently?
While searching on the internet I only found ways to delete TO the recycle bin not FROM. I also don't want to empty the whole bin, just one specific file...

I removed a "foder" pointing to my Pictures from the Media Center library and my pictures we "unexpectedly" deleted. I was working under the impression the Media Center library was just an index of the folders that are included.

When I delete even the smallest of files on windows xp the operation takes 3-10 minutes to complete.
I have read this can happen when the recycle bin has alot of items in it, and XP has to iterate through all the files. So I set the space usage to 1%,...

Want to bypass the Recycle Bin and permanently delete them), you can select the files, then press the performance change based on your recycle bin being empty or full? Even at 1%, if you have a 500 GB drive that is still 5 gigabytes....

Are you saying that after you empty the Recycle Bin, it still contains
files?
"Deleting" a file doesn't actually remove it from the disk; it is simply
moved to a special kind of folder, the Recycle Bin.
