A new customer of mine who has a Cisco router urgently required some changes made and using before).
Can't find anything online elsewhere, bought the piece on ebay used.. It's out of warranty, Cisco won't have anything to do with telling me how. HELP!

ASA 5505 is arround 2 time better than PIX 501, you have a maximum number vendor will cost you more in totalt because... .
As far as product the same CLI interface.
If you stick with Cisco, then an ASA 5505 would be your best bet for replacement.

Cisco Firewalls have one problem, per default they never give a package out of the same interface they get it in.

SNMP is great for getting information out of a Cisco device, but is not very useful controlling the device.
I've written some Python for these routers.
In my case I'm comfortable with the CLI so a Telnet approach works well.
I am currently setting up an access server and can now connect to my switch1 but getting a blank screen and no cli. i use the ctrl shift 6 -x and can return to AS but never getting anything to perform commands on SW1. am i missing something here????
