Well I I'm in college for Network Support Administration
Today we had to make are own cables and I was wondering which is better to buy your cables or to make them yourself?
PS: I now hate cables....

I agree pretty much eyeball it and order one up .
I could do it all day long.
If you have the right ends Cat6 isn't too bad
I like making cables.

I am wondering, are the aftermarket HDMI VGA cables as good as the name brand? I'm looking for someone who's even crazier than me who has or will test one vs. the other with the millisecond timer so we will all know for certain!

HDMI will inherently lag VGA cables? I think you accidentally....
Get official microsoft ones.
But off brand VGA cables are bad, end of story.

It may be worth looking on ebay like what clearer....
As far as power cables go, in my experience they don't make much difference, however clearer audio make some good entry level power cables that are under £50.00.
As an expensive one.
