Has anyone figured out if there are settings to use in Calibre in order to convert Amazon purchased files so that when they are on the device they are also not showing up as books in the Archives??

Can anyone throw any light on this? I have an iphone. You'd think getting books on to an iphone might be one of the commonest tasks, and therefore pretty automated. Wrong. First off, Calibre doesn't accept .doc files as a source. But it doesn't say so...

I've used it a couple of timesI suspect the problem is more with Apple and the iPhone than Calibre.
To convert .doc files?
I use Calibre with all of my ereaders, no problem.

Yes, Calibre can convert ebooks on an ad-hoc basisSure it is.
If you like it --fine! Use it.
Once I have done all of that, THEN I close software .
Use Calibre when I want to remove drm and convert a book.

You need to start by opening....
Now....when you click on that 'send' button on Calibre, the address should show soooo much.
There should check "apply".
The 'transfer' button on Calibre is that square thing with the three blue 'knobs' on top.

If you can see them with Calibre, when your reader is connected(main Memory view), Select all or readable with the Calibre viewer, but you can still store and catalog them.

I'm still finding my way around Calibre, and am amazed at the complexity of the software hiding behind a user friendly interface. It really is an incredible achievement and I'm so grateful to the developer.

User manual is available: Calibre put all available formats of a book in one folder.
You can Convert that to PDF.

Problem and I resolved it follwing this :
Connect the eReader
Open Reader (Sony software)
Open Calibre, select the ebooks to transfer
Drag (from Calibre) and Drop (in Reader).
