I believe the Canon Ixus to PTP, so set it to MTP.

When you want to transfer pics from camera to PC, just remove the memory....
Buy a card-reader which plugs into a USB port, then you don't need to connect the camera to your PC and neither do you need to have the Canon software installed.

If the sound still comes out choppy, the computer may be too slow for... .
Try reinstalling the sound or video codec or use VLC media player instead .
Wrong codec.
Or get a better computer.
Its because your computer is slow transfer to dvd and it will stop .

You will at some point have to decide on any common "crop" values though, if the cameras shoot in different aspect ratios.
What are you asking??? Any decent video software will allow you to combine digital video from more than one source .

If you want multiple vendor support Nikon has an SDK that provides similar support as the Canon SDK....
PTP and MTP are both protocols for transferring files from a digital still camera (DSC will be stuck using the camera specific SDK.

Check the camera manual for how to remove Troubleshoot camera connection problems....
Do you have a card reader on your computer? You can remove the memory card from your camera and insert it into a card reader to access your pictures.
