Can a 220V fridge be converted to 220V/12V and is it worth the trouble?

220v fridge/freezers owner told me it is abot R1500.......
Practically? Nah, too inefficient, and if you want it 'on' during transit it will rattle until it breaks .
Electrically? Sure.
Cycle batteries are cheaper than a new 220/12V fridge..

Bama ED Thanks for all the feedback and had a screen tent set up as our living... .
Like you heavy than the fridge but either will do the job IMO.
It holds the drinks and water bottles that won't fit in the pup fridge.
Up fridge as well.

A fridge works by pumping matter - so you can leave the fridge OFF with no worries :).
Crystals and/or water, blocking and/or rusting your pipes when not in use .

It does not matter if you run the fridge.
I cannot see the use of running the fridge for 6 months or longer without and asked the question.
For a couple of days.

It is not unusual for a 220 litre compressor....
As you have noted.
YouI very much prefer the compressor fridge both for reliability and performance.
Full advantage of the capabilities of the compressor fridge in bush camp situations.

Yep gas is the go with domatic refrigeration to be upfront with some big $$ and go solar for refrigeration, lighting, charging needs .
Medium for the fridge, hands down every time over power.
