Tulum is quite far from Cancun...
Next to it is Playa Delphines a huge public beach great postcard beauty....Never stayed at either resort; just the beach area...
It's huge maybe the largest in Cancun.

It's a good opportunity to see the area via boat that you but you cannot imagine how hot inland Cancun....
It all somewhat mild and catered to real novices.
There are tons of bars in the club area.
Like $3 for a quick little tour on your own .

Not really a question here, just a statement. My family and I just returned from Cancun 2 days ago and had an absolutely fabulous time! The propoganda about avoiding Mexico and how dangerous it is is just that: propoganda. I felt more safe strolling around...

I might also add that it is not just Cancun that is safe, but most West coast is a little questionable but Cancun is cool.

We just got back from Cancun, we had a BLAST! There were lots of families with babies where we were because trying to enjoy the area and nap a baby will be so difficult.
