Canon 24-105L F4 vs Canon 17-55 F2.8 on a Canon 7D All,
Just wondered if anyone had any feedback on these two lenses on a small sensor body. I have the 24-105, but wondered whether I would be better with the faster glass - giving up the L build and longer...

Canon 17-55 f2.8 or 24-105 f4L on Canon 550D
What would you prefer going for on a 1.6 crop body such as the 550D, ideally for simple portraits, landscape and maybe wildlife?

I'd also both would cover portraits, the 17-55 better for landscapes and 24-105 for wildlife at a push for the crop...17-55, aperture aside....
This is because of the low f stop can produce some lovely bokeh .
Use the canon 17-55.

Not if buying new....
I will say that the 17-55 is an amazing for a zoom.
Very very that stops the "dustbuster" effect this lens is famous for .
I will say that the 17-55 is an amazing lens and worth the price if you are shooting APS-C.

Hallo, I'm looking fowards to buy a new lens and that would be canon 17-55 IS. I'm wondering if it's worth to buy UV filter to protect the glass? what would you do?

FWIW, I had a 17-55 for a few years, never used a filter, and never had the best the Hoyas.
This is the one lens I keep a UV filter on as much as not to exacerbate the problem .
No dust.
Had the 17-55 for roughly three years.
