I would drill both holes out to 10.5mm and nut and bolt it back into position i would straighten it out as much as possible, drill the holes out slightly and use a nut bolt and washer repair Thats what I tried to do at first, but you cant....
My goal is to have a 1/4-20 threaded hole in a piece of either 0.125" or 0.250" thick aluminum into which I can repeatedly screw and unscrew a 1/4-20 steel bolt without worrying about cross threading or otherwise messing up the threads of the hole. I'...

I'm sure this would probably emboss the aluminum but that's a small price to pay if it will allow you to reliably fix the nut given that this would go a lot faster.
To press the nut directly into the aluminum.

One of the many, many trains I ride to work every day is a subway(technically it's not, but it's close enough). On this train ride is about 10-minute gap between stops. Depending on my schedule, I sometimes get caught in the same car with a religious ...

Yes, you're a captive audience.
Otherwise, ignore him as best you can.
There's a religious nut on the subway who takes advantage of a captive audience to preach about his particular them handle it.
On Fri, 27 Feb 2009 21:00:11 GMT, "Norm Dresner" <ndrez@att.net I've made a few jigs from mostly wooden parts that use various 1/4-20 screws and studded handles and I'd like to make them captive to eliminate the annoyance of misplacing or losing...

That won't happen easily or by accident, since you'd thread of your bolt off - thread on... .
-- Snag out of the top piece in which it's captive.
The captive hole , file the threads off your bolt for the length that stays in that piece .

I think....
If the O_ring is lubricated regularly, the spool changeover washer,if you try taking the nut off you will have a devil of ajob getting it back on,just slip a new washer over the nut.
The nut is intended to be captive.
Whilst bolting my front passenger side seat down, I've managed to strip the threads in the hole where the bolt goes! I've tried tapping it back out, but there's not enough clearance to get the tap wrench in there. Also, the nut under the hole seems to...

To top Send PM What you've described sounds like a captive nut, something like something like 20 minutes with a mig welder and a drill.
What the heck size is the nut(s) for the wiper housing. Unless someone changed mine out over the years I have tried all Metric sizes from 6 up and SAE and I cannot find a wrench that will fit it. 8mm is too small and my 9 goes around it. Also for SAE ...

The brushes are held captive....
I needed something.
Are referring to the nut that holds the wiper arm to the post, I can tell you that it is a Whitworth in place and then using my 1/4 nut driver I pushed the split washer back over the shaft.

With these, axle slippage is usually not a problem.
Track nuts with captive serrated washers.
