Could it be cheaper to finance a car rather than pay cash? I'm going to buy a car by myself and need some pointers. Never done this before.

That statement is contradictory in terms.
You don't finance always cheaper to finance a car over paying cash.
And to have clear title to the car instead of the bank.
A car payment every month.

Can anyone give me an idea of how it works? It's been suggested to me by 2 car dealers and Santander is closed until Monday. I'm 2.5 years into a 5 year deal and owe more than the car is worth. It's very hard on petrol and I just can't afford it any more...

Also beware that the finance company might be a bit on the car.
If it is Hire Purchase you if you have any defaults or late payments .
Have a look at the terms & conditions on your copy of the finance deal.

Well car finance should be a little easier to get than say an unsecured loan as if you dont pay they can take back the car.

I am currently 9 months in to a PCP car finance deal with Citroen. With my deal I am to pay 36 instalments of £315.33 and then a voluntary final balloon payment of around £7k (if I wanted to keep the car).
I have had no problems keeping up with my payments...
