The computer does not seem do know that there is an SD card in the reader. The reader is showing up in Device Manager and I tested the SD card in another computer (it's fine).
It's a Dell Vostro 1500 running WinXP Home. Thoughts?

If this is a USB....
Also, if the card reader came with a software CD, it might be a good idea to install it.
It would help to know what make and type is this card reader, because some of them need with the XP built-in drivers).

I have a Dell 2407FWP monitor that has a built in media card reader and USB ports. The USB Ports work fine but the media card reader shows up in Devices as a USB 2.0 device with the error that it can't start. The card reader worked fine under XP Pro SP...

My flash card reader shows multiple drive letters (one letter for each card type), even when cards are not inserted. Is there any way to hide these inactive drives?

And reallocated each slot on the reader.
Letters to be allocated to folders, so what I have done is set up a folder called card reader on my c drive then created subfolders called SD, MemoryCard etc.

I had to install the drivers and now the problem is solved!
1) Disconnected Media Card Reader and reconnected it.
Windows 7 did not recognize my media card reader either.

One of our customers has asked if we can interface with a serial magnetic card reader/encoder from a old EPOS system. The device has no make only the MW-3170 model number.

Engineer the commands sent to the card reader.
