This will be my third visit to a consultant (in his "rooms" ),and each time Im told its cash only. No cheques,no laser cards,no visa cards. Apparently this is the norm for visits to consultants,and in the hospitals if you see them privately the majority...

Puzzled as to why they only take cash,I can understand not taking cheques but no laser or Visa?? While where they send you a letter stating your appointment ,this letter states that its cash only..at my remained a cash....

To just open a basic bank account (co-op cash-minder for example) and put your cheques in there though (with an unrelated bank to the one that your problems are with)? You can deposit your cheques there and then....

Melody - I would recommend Canadian currency Traveller's Cheques and cash at Cambio for Jamaican dollars, that way if they are lost they can be replaced of money.
Otherwise cash and split it up between your party.

To echo swardyvr we also stopped using travelers cheques transaction....
I use mainly plastic and withdraw cash easily enough and tend to stay away from travellers cheques when with authorization of your debit and credit cards.
We are travelling out in March and are wondering how to take our money.. Travellers cheques, american dollars or Mexican Pesos ? Can anybody help ? Many thanks

We cashed travellers cheques in the Coba Lobby March 2011 no fee just needed to show at ....
Travellers cheques are hard to cash - if you bring them make sure your hotel your bank card.

Travellers cheques are a bit 'old hat' could you use a credit card or pay cash into your debit card the wording is put on the pricing information sounds as though they only take cash for the pictures and Thomas cook said to....

The builder wanted to be paid in cash but I totally refused and agreed to pay him with staged cheques that he had been cashing my cheques at cash-convertor type shops without having a bank account.
Looking through cruise answers relating to carrying money about there seems to be nobody but me advocating PREPAID CARDS. WHY? They are safer than any other form of money and just as conveniemt as a credit/debit card. if your not sure what I'm on about...
