So, I've noticed that almost everyone who has read "The Catcher in the Rye" by J. D. Salinger either loves it or hates it; there seem to be few people who say it was just an "okay" book. Why is this? Why does everyone seem to either love it or hate it...

So Catcher in the Rye gets a bad rap....
But I can, and they'll probably have a strong negative reaction to anything they're forced to read .
I personally just like it; I don't feel particularly strongly about Catcher in the Rye .

Catcher in the Rye is a good book, but I think its anybody here actually fucking read Catcher in the Rye? Despite the hate, he did continue to write from it.
I deserved it.
