Without further testing, I do not recommend it.
The absorption data shows a lLOF rollof staring well before it does with 703/705 .
Denser is not better for bass absorption in and of itself .

Provided that the ceiling over the shower stall isn't enclosed and you have an exhaust fan (is that what you were referring to when you said you'd have a small ceiling fan in the enclosure?) to rid the room, just install another layer against....

You could try soaking.
Will damage the ceiling underneath the adhesive with the scraping action so you may end up with a ceiling that had loads of gouges in it which paper might still not cover properly.

You can try and drop a piece of all thread into a box with one of your standard box brackets for ceiling tiles.
And it also depends if you can reach something structural above the dropped ceiling.

I think what Yummy meant to say is although you can cut ceramic tile, the cut edge can and if the surface of the tile is a different color from the body of the tile, so cutting ceramic tile to use them as half....
