I have to admit I get some strange cases. A designer (of course) has asked me to do a floor made of real pennies. It can be done as the google images section confirms. But what's a practical way to actually do this job?

The cost would test the strength of their desire I'm sure .
My first thought was concrete tiles with pennies set in the surface.

Be there for ages, go to your local tile supplier and they could put you onto somebody to do it, you remove the adhesive with a scrapper it will leave a slight residue left on the tile /and anyway you weekend scraping off tile adhesive....

I've removed the awful ceramic floor tiles from my concrete kitchen floor and I've noticed a few areas where the old tile adhesive remains.

I have 12" ceramic tiles going onto my bathroom floor and walls.
I am looking for what mortar(s) to use between the subfloor and the backer board.
I have 1 and 1/8 " subflooring TnG, glued and screwed.
The walls to receive the tile have 15/32" plywood...

For long term satisfaction go for the boards ..im a builder ..maintain a few blocks of flats ..nowadays when we upgrade a bathroom we fit the boards ...aqua boards or mermaid boards ...its vital you fit all the sealing trims ..especially in shower areas... .

I doubt you can get 93.
If you just comb the tile, you're missing the point of keying it in.
The difference from how and tile.
Back butter tile, set.
Burn/key into substrate, trowel to proper depth.
