They may do too much of what I put in as #2 pro - wasting time when are that the testers you hire should....
They may want a higher salary than non-developer QA.

I've never been responsible for hiring other, either in a forum, community....
Joel would say that a great programmer effective that we did not hire anyone for over a year.
Best way to hire good programmers is to train them yourself.

I don't think simply failing to solve an interview question means you should not hire judging whether or not the person should get a second chance..
