I thought I read a thread about this before but.. I couldn't find it now.
My 68 has a three speed manual trans and I'm guessing 411 rear gear (maybe steeper?) I don't have a tach in it but it's really singing at 65-70 mph. I can't bring myself to cruise...

Using a real rough estimate, it looks like a 330rpm increase per half a gear ratio increase at highway speed.
2.65 = 2000
3.06 = 2330
3.50 = 2660
3.92 = 3000
Again, these are very rough estimates. There is a formula to calculate the rpm but I don't know...

Economy wont suffer too much.
Would only change to 5th at around 100+kmh.
(revs should around to keep the box happy.
But yes, you can only change to 5th gear once you reach 100km/h.

Does anybody know what the PA is for 20 DP Dalton Change gears for one of their lathes is. I have a line on some and looking to see if they would work for my Hardinge Lathe. The DP is correct now just need to know the PA.
