So I was thinking of trying auto-rx and the directions say to change the oil
filter without changing the oil after 1000 miles. Is this possible?

I would just go with a higher.
The filter retains a very small amount of oil, but the rest of it collects down in the oil pan.
No more than a regular change...all the oil is down there in the sump.

I've just ordered a new riding lawn mower and have been reading the owners manual. (No, I don't have a life.) Under the maintenance schedule, it says to change the oil for the first time after 8-10 hours of use. OK, no problem. The next oil change is ...

I like my oil in the engine....
Our that is in the filter that bothers me almost as much as not changing the filter itself.
Recommends changing the filter only on alternate oil changes for at least some of their automobiles.

I know changing oil is a good thing, but we probably over do it.
I had inquired about changing my fleet and the engine still ran great.
Of synthetic oil in anything that goes suck-squish-bang-blow.

On some honda engines you do not screw the dipstick down to check oil what you do is just set the oil plug goes in then put plug in end of pipe.
