Tidbit on bookmark tagging: http://dev.chromium.org/user- experience/bookmarks well, my guess is quite necessary because sometimes a site will fall under many topics.

Is there any way to force Chrome to open a bookmark or a url typed on the search bar to open in a new tab? I know that pressing the Alt-Enter on the url bar and Ctrl-MouseButtonOne will force a new tab load. I would just like that to be the default behavior...

If you want a bookmark to open in a new page, right click and select new page has a scroll wheel, middle click on the bookmark will also do the trick.
Then type your url.
