Hi
I learned yesterday that the chemo drug that it looks like I'll be taking for 6 months is NOT covered by OHIP (government health insurance).
My oncologist thinks that my private healthcare will cover it.
Has anyone else had this issue in Canada???

Can you give us any info on what drug your understanding in talking to my doctor....
I can't imagine either of these not being covered by the gov't program .
The primary chemo treatment for Stg 2 CRC is 5FU, or the pill version of it, Xeloda.

Even the chemo drugs that aren't normally associated with life drugs.

S the first wanted to give me the hardest chemo.
As many have said chemo isn't fun, but in most cases.
Are very young with lots of years ahead of you .

I have an appointment with an oncologist to discuss Chemo, My Cancer was a stage 2 with no lymph node or organ involvement and it was localized. The reason they would want to do Chemo is because of my age 40 and the size of the tumor 6cm. I am so confused...

Probably go with the chemo, but without the oxaliplatin which is the one that gives the worst side are for you to have the chemo ie if the chemo will improve your chance of 2% of the cancer not coming back is that worth the trade ....

I am doing adjuvant chemo..insurance against recurrences from my colon cancer. I had a lung resection in March and am reluctantly doing chemo...i am pukey and poopy and really need to eat but can't
but this too shall pass....ugh.

It's just my guess, but I'm beginning to think that the side-effects from chemo are far longer lasting than after chemo ....

I had lumpectomy...nodes were clear; margins were not .
I never had nausea after chemo--I got my anti-nausea drugs through the I.V.
And surgeon.

Starting chemo on September 8. What I know right now is I will be getting the regular chemo regimen minus the red devil. I didn't even think to ask what the regular chemo regimen was! Geez! I do know after chemo I will have 6 weeks 5 x week radiation ...
