It's Kenpo terminology for a basic natural weapon, "2 finger spear hand", under the category two fingers see Ed Parker's "Secrets of Chinese Karate" It would be less common that an american kenpo person would have a "closed fist....

Nothing is absolute and didactic discussions in kenpo or any martial art tend to be without final entrapped in theory many times explain the stuttering and pauses of many kenpo people as well as other arts.

I am also former Moo Duk Kwan TKD/TSD (early to mid-1980's), and I respect anyone who could thrive in the harsh training of the 1970's and earlier - back when Korean Karate meant hardcore .
