I'm currently studying music, and we have a few theory lessons in school..
But, I'm always coming to the problem that I don't know where to go from each chord, let's say I'm playing a Bb or F or C chord, I want to read up on where I can move...

I bought the book "Music Theory for Computer Musicians" I'm French and my English is not perfect but it's more easier to learn music theory with this book in English than a French piano book (boring and only in piano score).

I thought I would post some thoughts on how to think about chord progressions.
Let's start with a V C V C song, with 16 bars in the verse and 16 bars in the chorus.

Since we've dumped all over I-V-vi-IV in another thread, it made me start thinking about chord progressions, and especially those ones you sometimes hear that make you think 'hot damn, what the hell is that?', and go find a piano or a guitar to work it...

I do know we can't say that about too many chord progressions: : Nothing very complicated about it.

Well, not really the chord progressions themselves (or maybe I am), but rather, how do you lump a whole song into one chord progression?
For example, when someone says that a song is a I-V-vi chord progression, that implies to me that the entire song ...

Why do chord progressions have to follow the 'Chart'? If you have ever studied music theory, you know what I'm talking about (If not, just google "Chord Progression Chart"). Be as detailed as possible. Talk about what would happen if you didn't choose...

Some progressions, within a certain context, may have one chord sounding really period, it was unusual for a composer to stray from these "Standard" Chord progressions will sound quite awkward.
