1st: I don't think metal's bad, but I prefer classical metal musicians ....
Certainly, I prefer classical, but I have no qualms against listening to rock, metal (with Roy Khan) is the best in my opinion.

If asked what sort of music I like, I, myself, would say I'm a "heavy metal" guy, but I like pieces of music from most genres (as anyone would). Asside from that I am a huge classical music fan.
