A path with estimated power ranges would be nice. I have a 300 ft/lbs goal, and it would be nice to see what mods would be necessary to get there.

HERE is M$'s FYI Upgrade Planning for Windows Vista.
In short:
(1) XP Home Edition is upgradable to all Vista editions.
(2) XP Pro has a mixed options.
(3) XP 64-bit & W2K all requires clean instal.

Final version is open to allow in-place upgrading directly from XP and also the first to include the nifty Upgrade Advisor.
I have successfully done an upgrade from XP Pro with minimum problems.

You will not be able to do an in place upgrade using the migrate option....
Also note that the final preview release will be the Windwos 8 Release Preview .
Prior to an upgrade, migrate, or clean install of Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

I tested going, it's not really worth doing a clean install as ubuntu doesen't really store many temporary files, unlike windows.
I shared in testing the upgrade path for Ubuntu amd64 and i386 before 12.04 was released.

I've read Palm is working, but if you really want to find the problem here's how:
1Do a *hard* reset to wipe the unit clean.
You said your Palm still does your job, so why the rush to upgrade it.
