I think that your question is best answered by your family physician. Many people experience withdrawal symptoms when they quit drinking, but each individual is different. I, myself, was more edgy and irritable when I quit. I suggest you call your doctor if you are worried. In any case, I wish you the best in your new life of sobriety. Brine and thaw overnight in the refrigerator will work fine. If it were out of the fridge, you'd have to worry about temperature getting to warm. If your turkey were completely frozen solid, there would be a small chance of it still not thawing, or not thawing soon enough to take up the brine. I did almost exactly the same thing with a 13 pounder on Thanksgiving. My bird was sold as fresh, not frozen, but clearly had some icy spots. source

I voted gradual, but it was really DD who made the switch on her own at around 11 months. In general, we've followed her lead on stuff like this. I wouldn't rush it if your baby isn't showing signs of needing to switch. Now my DD is almost 4 and I wish she would drop that one nap altogether, but she seems to really need it! source

I quit smoking when I found out that I was pregnant. It is very difficult to quit "cold turkey" if you do not have a strong need to quit, in my case the health of my child. If you really want to quit and you believe it is more important for you to stop than to enjoy the stress relieving nicotine for a couple of minutes, you can do it! source

I will keep that info in mind Sweet Tata if I decide to do a whole turkey in future. I always use oven bags for roast meats, and I have found the the temperatures suggested on the oven bag are too high, and the time recommended needs to be increased. source
