I recently installed a module from CPAN and noticed one of its dependencies was common::sense , a module that offers to enable all the warnings you want, and none that you don't. From the module's synopsis:

Lots of low level stuff like you want to eliminate and it's definitely more on the practical side, but worth a look .

I figure the BackgroundWorker is there to allow me to execute a long-running task and keep the UI responsive .

Ok....The title sounds a little math-y, but basically you're just adding two things to get something. And it just so happens to be common sense instead of a random answer.
