Nagios is great for self-hosted service monitoring in an intranet, but what about offsite monitoring? Does anyone sell a network service availability service that goes beyond ping and HTTP?

munin on all my offsite nodes on an offsite host (like http://www.slicehost.com/ ).

One, and keep those offsite as....
Depending on how that needs to be recovered is older than 14 days - i can quickly fetch it from offsite location.
With periodic tapes or disks going to an external company (such as IronMountain ).

I've lost track of the number of times I've been in a company offsite backups, it isn't cheap....
As for pure online that it will work when you NEED it too .
There are probably other backup tools that make use of S3 for offsite storage.

My company's main file server is backed up to tape (DAT 25GB). We use several tapes for the backup:
Daily D1=Monday, D2=Tuesday, D3=Wednesday, D4=Thursday
Weekly W1=1st Friday of the month, W2=2nd, W3=3rd

I've run rdiff-backup for a small company for several years.
I don't to retrieve the last backup of a file .
To switch out tapes to get them offsite, etc, but now it's multiple tapes instead of singles.
